Summer's Baptism

Summer was just baptized the day after Christmas. It was such a special day and a very beautiful baptism. We were so glad that Great Grandma was able to make it. When I left with Summer to change her out of her wet baptism clothes, there was a short testimony meeting. When Summer and I arrived back in the room, the spirit was so strong...it kind of hit me like FIRE...I think Great Grandpa definately was there!!!

I was trying to break 2 hours, so pretty proud of that 1:52, although my training partners blew me out of the water...Lisa with a 1:45 and Heather with a 1:37. Lisa and I were proud of ourselves, and although Heather smoked us all, she was bugged she didn't have a better time...too funny!!!

More About Zion...

Okay, Uncle Jim said my last post about Zion was like those instruction sheets that come with IKEA products: drawings but no words. Soooo..... in July, we stayed at a bed and breakfast called Zion Canyon for 2 nights, it was wonderful! Eric and I took a hike up to Angels Landing, the most gruling and scary of all the hikes up there. At the highest points, we had to hang on to chains that are cemented into the mountain in order to make it to the top. The pictures don't do it justice...how high it was or how beautiful it was! The entire trip took us about 6 hours. Eric was a little sick about doing it at first, just because it is kind of scary, but he was a serious trooper. He hated how much of a dare devil I was being...I love heights!

Eric and I decided to remodel our downstairs bathroom. Eric had this great idea to bash the mirror to pieces. Of course it didn't exactly work the way he thought it would...I'm a huge retard recording it thinking he's going to kill himself doing it...talk about anticlimactic!!!

I made this video for my 5th graders to watch on 9-11. It was amazing to me how many of them didn't even know the events that took place. It was a great way for us to discuss how hatred can destroy people and how very lucky we are to live in a country where our freedom is protected every day. My students cried many tears at the thought of how cruel people can be, they shared out how they can make a difference, be the example, and take pride in the freedoms we enjoy. Although the video is a bit disturbing, I hope you enjoy it and reflect on how blessed we are.

A Needed Girl's Night

Lisa, Mandi & I set out for a night on the town, not knowing where we were headed...just that we were kidless and bound to find some fun!!!

On the way off to our girl's night adventure, we dabbled in a little Chinese fire drill...

We ended up at a little jazz club that played some awesome music, but had to be idiots and take stupid pictures...everyone knows a night out with me can't go without some serious immaturity!

Toward the end of the night, Lisa was tired, so she cuddled up in my "parka"...I'm always getting crap for having this thing from Lisa...doesn't look like she's complaining now!!!

Heather just pulled this pic out from last summer...I got a good laugh out of it. I look like I'm excited, but really I was "mocking" my prize. I've been running this Lake Gregory 5k for years and always wanted to get first place in my age group because they give out these super cool carved pine tree trophies. So this year I win first place, and what do they pass out as trophies??? A MUG...a stinking MUG...when they called my name I had to do this stupid pose, really I was pretty ticked off! Anyway, I'm getting back into my heavy duty training and I plan to run a half marathon in June...feels fabulous to be putting some good miles on the road again!

We are learning about the digestive system...this was a thinking map I created with my class about feces...man did we have a GOOD laugh!! I rewarded them with this disgusting activity because they did so well on the test review. I couldn't believe all the synonyms they thought of for feces. After they go home and tell their parents what they learned today, I hope I still have a job tomorrow...hey, I have to find a way to make it fun.

Eric and I were surprised with a wonderful celebration a few years back on our 20th wedding anniversary. Friends and family came to honor us and reflect on the many beautiful memories we have created together. Eric and I LOVED Dwight's description of little Summer in this clip, but Dwight's whole speech was so cool, I wanted everyone to relive it once more...thanks bro...we love you!!!

Jenny's words also were so precious and touched me deeply. Thanks Jen...love ya sis!

I think I will continue to add a few more clips from others at a later time...this was such a special day for us!

Wicked was AWESOME! Summer told me after the show that her eyes hurt. When I asked her why she replied, "I only blinked three times during the whole show. I was afraid I might miss something." She LOVED it!!
